Transfers In
The process for transfering your domain name to KDA Web Services depends on the type of domain name that you want to transfer and also on where you would like administrative control to remain.
If you would like the company that currently has control/registered your domain to retain administrative control over it, then you can carry out what is known as a name-server change - This will then cause any requests for details about your domain name to be sent to our name-servers. The KDA Web Services name servers for virtual hosting are:
- dns1.kdawebservices.com
- dns2.kdawebservices.com
If you would like KDA Web Services to take over administrative control of your domain name, and become the company that bills you for domain renewal then this depends on the type of domain name e.g. .uk, .com etc.
For .uk domain names, you will need to request that the company who currently controls your domain name, change the IPS Tag to KDAWEBSERVICES.
For .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz domain names, you will need to ask us to make a transfer request on your behalf, this will result in an email being sent to the Owner, Administrative and Technical contacts for your domain name, with instructions on how to approve or deny the transfer to KDA Web Services.
For all domain names, you will need to notify us when you are ready for it to load your site from our servers e.g. when yuo've moved over all of your content and setup your email addresses etc. so that we can make the changes to the name-servers to tell the world to look at our name-servers for information about your website.
Transfers Out
In the unlikely event that you would like to move your domain name away from KDA Web Services, we will be happy to oblige, the process varies depending on the type of domain name.
For .uk domain names, you will need to request that we change the IPS Tag of the domain name to that of your chosen provider, who should be able to give you this information.
For .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz domain names you will need to request that your new provider make a transfer request for the domain name, which will result in an email being sent to the Owner, Administrative and Technical contacts for the domain to approve or deny the transfer. You will also need to inform us that you are wishing to transfer the domain name away and who to, as we will need to remove the locked status on the domain name, we will also reject any trasnfer request email that comes through for security reasons unless we have been informed otherwise.
