Shared Virtual Hosting
Shared virtual hosting is what most people mean when they ask for Web Hosting, it is the most common form of web site hosting and is ideal for 90% of web sites. As the name sugests, it is a shared medium, where your site will share the resources of a server, or in the case of ourselves, several servers, with other users of a hosting company. What this means to you, as a customer of KDA Web Services, is that you get access to, and the use of £10,000 worth of servers, from as little as £39.95 per year.
Unlike many shared hosting providers, we don't believe in placing all of your site components on a single server - we wouldn't do it with our web sites, so we won't do it with yours. Most hosting companies will run all your services from a single server, typically a Pentium 4 with 1GB of RAM and a single hard drive - Not an ideal situation to have your web site placed in. If you'd like to know more, then please read our Tech Specs page.
Reliability and Dependability
As part of our commitment to providing a reliable and dependable service, we opperate an Email Backup server. What this means, is that if the primary mail server for your domain name were to fail for any reason, then the backup server would collect the email and hold on to it till the primary server became active again - Thus removing instances of email "bounced" back to the sender, or held in a queue at the senders end, so if there is an email problem, when it is resolved, you get any email sent during the failure period much quicker than you otherwise would.
To further show our commitment to the safety of your data, we only utilise true hardware RAID cards (Used to protect data on hard drives, usually by making a copy to a 2nd drive) from 3Ware and LSI - Beware of providers only running software based RAID, or cheap integrated solutions as these tend to offer very little real protection.
